Jesus in the center

That’s the name of my first “commissioned” piece of art. Well, not really. I am on my church’s worship committee and we are about to begin a study on deepening your relationship with God. During the planning, I had this idea for a canvas and my preachers said “Run with it!” So, here is it!

The text is just a college of words that represent our busy lives: meetings, brothers, money, job, bills, vacation, car, phone, parents, drink…. you get the idea. I typed them up in different type fonts and different sizes; some are cut and some are torn. They are on a background of red and black, distressed with a variety of stamps and stencils and markers. The plain canvas heart on the cross is Jesus who should be the center of our lives. This will be on display by the pulpit during both services this coming Sunday.

I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I like this piece! I wish I could be at the service to hear the message along with the visual! Rest assured I will be listening to the recorded version as soon as I have access to internet!!

You did a great job!

I like how you used all those fonts! How big is this canvas?

Dixie, it's 24x30. The biggest one I have ever done. It was a bit intimidating at first.
