One sick little boy

01 25 12_1838Gabe turned 9 years old on Wednesday, January 25th! We took the family (including Grandparents) to CiCi’s for pizza and Gabe got to make his own pizza again this year. He was super excited. He got a Razor skateboard from Nana and Papa, Angry Birds plush toys from his brother and Jeff and I gave him the longest Nerf gun in history. But the best gift of all was a new bed from his Aunt Wendy and Uncle David. He went from an ancient twin bed to a brand new full size bed. He was very excited! 01 25 12_1839

But then, the day before his party with some of his best buddies he got sick. He has a very bad cold, complete with runny nose, sore throat, fever and coughing. Yuck. And he’s been to see the doctor twice. He will miss at least 3 days of school. The birthday party has been rescheduled; thankfully everyone could still come.

Hoping to post more pictures of a healthy 9 year old with his friends eating cake soon!

Just a quick post to show you my latest mixed media canvas. It’s a little one, only 6x6. I like how it turned out.

Jesus in the center

That’s the name of my first “commissioned” piece of art. Well, not really. I am on my church’s worship committee and we are about to begin a study on deepening your relationship with God. During the planning, I had this idea for a canvas and my preachers said “Run with it!” So, here is it!

The text is just a college of words that represent our busy lives: meetings, brothers, money, job, bills, vacation, car, phone, parents, drink…. you get the idea. I typed them up in different type fonts and different sizes; some are cut and some are torn. They are on a background of red and black, distressed with a variety of stamps and stencils and markers. The plain canvas heart on the cross is Jesus who should be the center of our lives. This will be on display by the pulpit during both services this coming Sunday.

Winter Jam 2012!!

On Sunday the 8th, Drew and I had the privilege to attend Winter Jam 2012 with about 15 of the youth from our church. This is the second year for us and it was amazing! It was a packed house and we loved just about every band there. (Skillet – not so much!)
